The presentation will take participants from the beginning of active shooter events within the US, and through recent events. Participants will learn what steps law enforcement takes to ensure events such as Columbine, Newtown, and Las Vegas are stopped. They will also learn warning signs and steps active shooters take prior to an attack. Participants will then learn what steps they need to take to prepare for an event within their business or building, along with adapting policy and procedure to their business to keep employees safe.
PRESENTER: Josh Long, Hutchinson Police Department
Josh has worked with the Hutchinson Police Dept since 2006. Aside from being assigned as a Patrolman, he has been a member of the Emergency Response Team since 2007. Duties on the ERT team include instructing county wide active shooter response courses for law enforcement along with civilian response to active shooter events. A.L.I.C.E. certified instructor, KLETC certified firearms instructor, along with Certified Field Training Officer with over 10 years of training experience.
